“If you’re going through hell, keep going”
This is one of my favorite quotes and I wish I would have stumbled upon it during some of the harder points in my life. It gives a little levity to otherwise difficult circumstances that my perfectionist self could have benefitted from! Even in my personal hell, I wanted to ‘do it right’.
I love this quote because it reminds me of what it was like when I didn’t know where I was going. When I was going through the toughest parts of my life: my parent’s divorce, abusive relationships, a toxic marriage, it felt like the ‘hell’ I was going through had always kinda been there.
When tough circumstances present themselves, they can feel like they fully engulf your life. After awhile it can even feel like you’ll never again feel good, have control, or enjoy yourself!
It can be tempting during those times to dwell on ‘the suck’. I can remember many times when I dug myself a pity-well and jumped right into it when I didn’t know what else to do. (One of the best things I ever did for myself to get through those tough times was hiring a coach for some accountability. If that sounds like it’s up your alley, schedule a call with me! The first one’s free ;))
The most hopeful thing to remember during those times though, is that it always gets better. Nothing is permanent, and you’ve just gotta keep moving. If you’re going through hell, keep going. You won’t always be there. You’re just going through something. It’s tough, sure. But it’s not permanent. You’re just passing through.
